In 2020 the then Prime Minister; Boris Johnson first outlined plans for a ban on the sale of ICE cars by 2030. Since being outlined there has been three more Prime Ministers who have all arguably fuelled confusion on this subject.
The date was originally moved to 2035 but the current government have pledged to reinstate the original 2030 date. At the same time the Government is also refining some aspects of its ZEV mandate which requires manufacturers to sell a certain number of electric vehicles.
With ongoing consultation on the subject it seems like more confusion will follow before anything is confirmed. Its seems likely however that demand for used ICE vehicles will increase as the deadline draws ever closer.
